Making the decisions to file for divorce can come with a number of concerns. It is important to be aware of the law concerning divorce in Texas 

 

Contested vs. Non-Contested

Contested 

  • Parties agree on all issues.
  • Both parties will willingly sign an Agreed Divorce Decree. 
  • Neither party will need to be served by a process server/sheriff. 

Contested 

  1. The parties are not in agreement on one or more of the issues. 
  2. One or both parties are unwilling to sign an Agreed Decree of Divorce.
  3. One of the parties will need to be served by a process server.

  3. File your divorce petition with the appropriate County.
